Case Study 4
Viral Haemorrhagic Fevers
This case study will investigate forms of disease surveillance for zoonotic outbreaks and animal disease that have emerged in the aftermath of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The study will also look at interventions seeking to develop veterinary capacity and disease monitoring in Sierra Leone.
The case study will include participant observation with NGO staff, veterinary experts, farmer, hunters, and health workers, to explore how formal and informal animal health systems are shaped by experiences and threats of emergent viral diseases.
